We craft and tell stories because we’ve stood on the uncertain edge between the waking world and our imagination, between enchantment and fear. And we remember other stories that help us build our own stories, scraps of lumber and fragments of narrative we gather together to make stories for ourselves.

Sister Fox has begun her Journey

Today, all the orders for the limited edition sewn-hardback of Sister Fox’s Field Guide to the Writing Life, by Jane Yolen, have begun their migration to their new homes. If you ordered one, cross your fingers and sit tight. This is way more exciting than the arrival of the Hogfather. Sister Fox is bringing you wonders you don’t even know you want yet. We can’t promise they’ll arrive by Christmas. They might arrive by Hogmanay. And certainly you should have had a chance to read it several times by Groundhog’s Day.

While we’re planning a mass market edition for next year, only 144 of this beautiful first edition were made. This is a special book. Happy reading, and hopefully the Field Guide will help you identify ever more poems in the wild.

  1. Happy New Year to you. I’m sad to say that my New Year is beginning without my copy of Sister Fox. I see on Jane Yolen’s Facebook page that most have received theirs. Can you help me verify if my copy has been sent?

    1. Hi Hope–Yes, I’m happy to report your copy has shipped. It’s probably just been delayed in all the holiday delivery madness. Not sure what else to do right now but sit tight and watch the mailbox. Let’s give it till 6 January, and then shoot an email to info[at]unsettlingwonder.com and let us know whether it’s arrived. All best for a New Year with lots of poems in!

  2. Hello! I’ve just discovered your website, but far too late to buy Jane Yolen’s book. Can you please tell me when the mass market book will be published?

    Kind regards,
    Ngiare Elliot
